A family home first
Depending on the plan, Ultimate Flex provides three or four en-suite bedrooms connected to an open living, dining, and kitchen arrangement. A family with young children can use the bedrooms and shared spaces just as they would in a conventional home.
The additional features do not require anyone to live separately. A suite’s kitchenette might simply provide a place for morning coffee. Its private exterior entrance may see little use. Both are already there when the family needs them.
Independence behind each door
The design includes three securable suites, each with a bedroom, an en-suite bathroom, a sitting area, and a kitchenette equipped for light cooking. Each suite has its own exterior entrance and an interior entrance connecting it to the rest of the home.
An adult child returning from college can come and go without walking through the shared living room. A grandparent can prepare breakfast and read in their own sitting area. Each has a door to close and space to follow a separate daily routine.
Room to gather
The central great room gives everyone a place to cook a larger meal, watch the big game, or spend an evening together. The shared kitchen and dining area remain the gathering place of a traditional family home.
Residents can choose between their own sitting areas and the shared living room, or between a light meal in their suite and dinner together. The house supports both independence and family life without making either arrangement mandatory.
The same rooms, different stages of life
A child’s bedroom can later become an adult child’s suite. That same space can accommodate a parent moving into the family home. The private entrance and kitchenette become useful without first requiring the family to remodel the house to add them.
Nor does the home have to remain divided into separate routines. It functions equally well when everyone uses the central kitchen and treats the suites as bedrooms. The flexibility lies in how the family occupies the rooms—not in a requirement to use every feature.
Designed for neighborhood lots
Versions are designed for 50-foot and 60-foot lots, with courtyard entrances and three- or four-car garage arrangements, including a separate garage for added flexibility. Different architectural styles can accommodate the same underlying plan.
As a prototype, the design must be evaluated for its particular site and local approval requirements, including the proposed kitchenettes and suite arrangement.
That is why it is Ultimate Flex: a home that serves a family with children today and can support independent adults or three generations later. The options are there from the start, ready when the family needs them.
