Lake Travis residence with second-floor living, large elevated deck, board-and-batten siding, and expansive lake views

100%

W Lakeview is a Lake Casual residence designed as an upside-down house, placing the main living level upstairs to maximize expansive Lake Travis views.

The challenge

The key planning problem was vertical: the best views were above the entry level, so a conventional first-floor-living arrangement would have sacrificed the site's strongest asset.

The design

The main living spaces move to the second floor and open to a large elevated deck. A porch at the half-level breaks up the stair sequence, while two ensuite primary bedrooms—one up and one down—add flexibility for family, guests, or changing needs over time. Simple fishing-cabin-inspired forms and board-and-batten siding keep the house relaxed rather than formal.
