Austin, Texas
Bull Creek Area Infill
Single-family · Subchapter F infill

Overview
A familiar Austin infill story: a strong inner-city lot where Subchapter F shapes height, articulation, and transparency. The architecture stays contemporary while the street face stays in conversation with its neighbors.
Challenge
Balancing compatibility metrics with a clear design idea required early studies of facade modulation, entry location, and how the building meets the sidewalk and side yards.
Design response
The composition uses layered materials and a legible base-middle-top read to satisfy compatibility without defaulting to generic pastiche. Porches and recesses add depth where the standards expect visual interest.
Site & permitting
Compatibility worksheets and elevation studies were developed alongside massing so revisions during review stayed incremental rather than structural to the design.
